The pages of this novel flipped steadily for me over the past two days. I could not tear myself away from this captivating and deeply emotional family drama that unfolded while pulling my heart along to the last word.

Blythe Conner’s story of motherhood and daughterhood swirl together unfurling with themes of trauma, loss, and hope. Common and relatable ties to childhood reflect that feeling of being wanted and seen by those we love stand out here amidst the backdrop of how that same need exists in marriage.

Trying to figure out the psychological wounds buried in the cast of this story and who’s version of reality to lean toward kept me on edge. This read uniquely explores what it means to be a good mother as well as that dreaded burden of feeling like you will never measure up as a parent. This is a reminder that a woman, even in today’s world, may question her own intuition and those around her may chose to as well.

I highly recommend The Push for your cold nights by the fire.
