Rejuvenate This Summer
Whether you have a lighter workload in the summer, or the pace is frantic, opportunities exist to shake things up this season. Research (and common sense) tells us that time outdoors is beneficial for physical and mental health. Simply taking up the same activity in a different place can boost mood and improve brain function. Some of my favorite switch-ups include reading in a hammock or swing instead of the sofa, doing yoga stretching on the porch or deck instead of my workout space, and walking the neighborhood during a work break.
Swapping up the routines or ruts we’ve grown accustomed to introduces us to new experiences and refreshes our spirit. Rejuvenating our body and mind is similar to updating a home/office or taking on community improvement projects. Frequent adjustments and TLC are necessary. I’m not the only one who gets the ich to rearrange a room or office, right?
As humans, we are designed to seek improvement in a myriad of ways. Some of us seek an easier life while some push for challenges or even thrills. So, whether you are shaking it up on a roller coaster or hiking along a community path, give yourself some new scenery today. Your mind and body will thank you.
